    MEMORY OF PAST 5YEARS




    DESIGN DEVELOPER WOOKIEHONG 5년간의 특별한 경험을 소개하고자 한다.


    대학시절 WOOKIEHONG VEHICLE DESIGN 전공하였고 그에게 영감을 주었던 자동차는 CITROEN 2CV, DS, STINGRAY 1969  역사에 족적을 남겼던 명차들이 있었지만 


    직접 타볼  있었던 당시의 양산차는 아우디 MK1 TT, 그리고 BMW E46 M3 였다대학에서 공부를 하던 당시 그는 자동차를 접근할  오직 DESIGN이라는 관점에서 


    가치판단을 했었지만 그에게 영감을 주었던 TT M3 오너로서의 경험치는 자동차에 대한 그의 시각을 넓혀주는 좋은 계기가 되었고이는 그의 DESIGN PHILOSOPHY에도 


    긍정적인 요소로 자리잡게 되었다.


    WOOKIEHONG  2종류의 차량이 가진 성능의 한계점을 직접 테스트 해보며  성능에 긍정적인 영향을   있는 CARBON FIBER AUTO PARTS들을 고민하게 되었고, 


     기능적인 부분을 DESIGN 속에 자연스럽게 반영한 제품들을 만들  있게 되었다


    그렇게 취미생활처럼 시작된 회사가 TID STYLING 이었다











    DESIGN DEVELOPER WOOKIEHONG'S 5 YEARS OF SPECIAL EXPERIENCE.


    DURING COLLEGE, WOOKIEHONG MAJORED IN VEHICLE DESIGN, AND THE CARS THAT INSPIRED HIM WHEN THE FAMOUS CARS THAT LEFT A MARK ON HISTORY 


    SUCH AS CITROEN 2CV, DS, AND STINGRAY 1969. BUT THE CARS THAT HE COULD HAVE EXPERIENCED WERE AUDI MK1 TT AND BMW E46 M3.


    WHEN HE WAS STUDYING IN COLLEGE, HE HAD A VALUE JUDGMENT IN TERMS OF DESIGN ONLY WHEN THINKING ABOUT AUTOMOBILES.


    THE EXPERIENCE AS OWNER OF TT AND M3, WHICH INSPIRED HIM, BECAME A OPPORTUNITY TO BROADEN HIS VIEW OF THE AUTOMOBILE, WHICH ALSO 


    BECAME A POSITIVE ELEMENT IN HIS DESIGN PHILOSOPHY.






    WOOKIEHONG 만들었던 제품들은 매우 빠른 시간에 알려지기 시작했고 해외 딜러들과의 계약을 통해 1년이  안된 시점에서 TOKYO AUTO SALON 2009 


    AUDI R8 DEMO CAR 출품하게 되었다TID STYLING R8 DEMO CAR TOYO TIRE COLLABORATION 통해 전시를 진행하였고 직후 F1 경기에서도  성능을 검증한 


    RAYS WHEEL 신제품 GV.10 WHEEL MAIN MODEL 선정되어  세계적으로  이름을 알리게 되었다.







     시점까지 그는 국내의 낙후된 카본파이버 생산업체에 외주생산을 통해 제품을 만들었지만 그들과 함께 성장하기 바라던 관점과는 다르게 

    그들은  앞의 작은 이익에 집중하며 배짱과 폭리를 취하고 있었다









    THE PRODUCT MADE BY WOOKIEHONG BEGAN TO BE KNOWN VERY QUICKLY AND UNDER CONTRACT WITH OVERSEAS DEALERS, LESS THAN A YEAR LATER HE WAS 


    TO EXHIBIT AUDI R8 DEMO CAR AT TOKYO AUTO SALON 2009. TID STYLING'S R8 DEMO CAR WAS EXHIBITED THROUGH COLLABORATION WITH TOYO TIRE. 


    RIGHT AFTER THAT, IT WAS SELECTED AS THE MAIN MODEL OF THE NEW GV.10 WHEEL OF RAYS WHEEL, WHICH ITS PERFORMANCE IN F1 RACE,.


    UNTIL THIS PERIOD, HE MADE OUTSOURCED PRODUCTS TO OUTDATED CARBON FIBER PRODUCERS IN THE COUNTRY AND HE WANTED TO GROW WITH THEM.

    BUT THEY WERE CONCENTRATING ON SMALL PROFITS BEFORE HIS EYES.







    이와같은 홍보 덕분에 그는 전세계 16개국에 딜러를 두며 AUDI OWNER 사이에서 높은 가격에도 불구하고 매우 좋은 REPUTATION 얻을  있게 되었으며


    독일 차량의 AUTO PARTS 만드는 국내 업체가  세계 최고의 AUDI TUNER 독일 MTM 독점 계약을 맺는 결실까지 얻게 되었다


    WOOKIEHONG 전부터 공부하며 준비해오던 PREPREG CRRBON FIBER 시제품의 개발을 성공하였고 동안 속을 썩히던 중급 수준의 국내 외주생산 방식의 제품에서 

    최상의 QUALITY 제품을 직접 생산방식으로 전환하고 공장을 건립하게 된다



    이후 그의 회사는 중국에서 열리는 VW DAS AUTO SCIROCCO CUP 경기 차량에 RACING PARTS 납품하는 공식 OFFICIAL SUPPLIER이자 SPONSOR 하며 


    해외 CUSTOMER들에게 인정받는 것을 넘어 RACER들에게 성능까지 검증받으며 사업의 정점을 찍게 된다


    모든 일에는 양면이 존재하듯 그에게도  사실은 불변의 법칙이었던 것일까?









    THANKS TO THESE PROMOTIONS, HE HAS DEALERS IN 16 COUNTRIES AROUND THE WORLD AND IS ABLE TO GET VERY GOOD REPUTATION DESPITE THE HIGH PRICES 


    AMONG AUDI OWNERS. AT THAT TIME, THERE WAS NO KOREAN COMPANY IN THE INDUSTRY AT THAT TIME, BUT TID STYLING GOT THE RESULT OF MAKING AND 


    EXCLUSIVE CONTRACT WITH GERMANY MTM, THE BEST AUDI TUNER IN THE WORLD. 


    WOOKIEHONG SUCCEEDED IN DEVELOPING PREPREG CARBON FIBER PROTOTYPE WHICH HAS BEEN STUDYING FOR A LONG TIME.

    IN THE MID-LEVEL DOMESTIC OUTSOURCING PRODUCTION PROCESS, IT HAS TRANSFORMED THE BEST QUALITY PRODUCT INTO DIRECT PRODUCTION METHOD AND BUILT A FACTORY.









    VW DAS AUTO SCIROCCO CUP 계기로 중국 진출의 발판을 마련하고 현지업체와 계약을 앞둔 시점에서 WOOKIEHONG 공장과 장비그리고 인력의 확보를 위해 


    많은 투자를 하게 되었고이것은 결과적으로 그에게  위험이 되었다중국업체는 초기와 다르게 계약 조건을 이행하지 않았고 많은 투자가 되었던 그의 사업에 막대한 손실을 


    가져오게 되었다 상황을 타계하기 위해서 그는 보다 적극적으로 사업 파트너의 확보를 위하여 많은 노력을 했었지만 결국은 회사의 규모를 축소해야 한다는 현실을 인정할  밖에 없었다


    당시 그는 공장과 장비그리고 인력을 감축하며  자신 역시 직접 손으로 제품을 제작하기 시작했고제품의 특성상 대량생산이 불가능한 PREPREG CARBON FIBER 

    최상의 수준으로 만들기 위해 투자한 시간과 에너지 실로 어마어마한 것이었다









    WITH THE VE DAS. AUTO SCIROCCO CUP, HE SET UP A FOOTHOLD IN CHINA, AND AT THE TIME OF CONTRACTING WITH A LOCAL COMPANY, WOOKIEHONG INVESTED 


    A LOT TO SECURE FACTORIES, EQUIPMENTS AND MAN POWER. AS A RESULT, IT BECAME A BIG RISK TO HIM AND THE CHINESE COMPANY DID NOT FULFILL 


    THE CONTRACT CONDITIONS DIFFERENT FROM THE BEGINNING, AND CAUSED HUGE LOSS TO HIS BUSINESS WHICH WAS A LOT OF INVESTMENT. 


    IN ORDER TO DEAL WITH THIS SITUATION, HE WAS MORE AGGRESSIVE IN MAKING EFFROTS TO SECURE BUSINESS PARTNERS, 


    BUT EVENTUALLY HE HAD TO ADMIT THE FACT THAT THE COMPANY HAD TO BE SCALED DOWN.


    AT THAT TIME, HE STARTED TO PRODUCE HAND MADE PRODUCTS BY CUTTING DOWN THE FACTORIES, EQUIPMETNS, AND MANPOWER.

    NATURE OF THE PRODUCTS, HE SPENT HUGE TIME AND ENERGY INVESTED TO MAKE THE PREPREG CARBON FIBER TO THE HIGHEST LEVEL.








    몸집을 줄이고 내실을 다지며  다른 도약을 준비하고 있던 시점에  멀리서 어두운 현실이 다시 다가오고 있었다


    독일 자동차 업계의 커다란 변화가 오면서 기존의 라인업 사이에 새로운 라인업을 만들기 시작했고 ( A3, A4, A6, A8 이던  라인업에 A5, A7 등의 새로운 라인업을 추가하는 전략


    신차 출시 시기가 6년으로 좁혀지게 되었다 중간에 모든 차종의 FL(FACE LIFT) 도입하기 시작하였고, AUTO PARTS 제작하는 업체들이 도저히 따라갈  없는 


    현실의 벽을 절감하게 된다또한그들은 전기자동차라는 새로운 패러다임을 맞이하여  동안 준비하였던 전혀 새로운 신차들을 앞 다투어 출시하기 시작했다


    독일에서 새로 출시된 모델이 국내에서 시판되는 시점은 현지 출시 후,  1년에서 1 반의 시간이 걸리고 용품의 개발을 위한 최소한의 시간을 제외하면 

    3년 만에 찾아오는 FACE LIFT 기간까지  6개월에서 1년 내 결과를 만들어야 하는 어려움이 존재하는 것이다









    AT A TIME WHEN HE WAS PREPARING FOR ANOTHER LEAP IN ORDER TO REDUCE SIZE, THE DARK REALITY WAS APPROACHING AGAIN FROM AFAR AGAIN.


    WITH THE GREAT CHANGES IN THE GERMAN AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY, HA HAS BEGUN TO BUILD A NEW LINE-UP OF EXISTING LINE-UPS ( A STRATEGY TO ADD NEW


    LINEUPS SUCH AS A5 AND A7 TO THE MAIN LINEUP, WHICH WAS A3, A4, A6 AND A8). IN THE MEANTIME, THEY STARTED INTRODUCING FL (FACE LIFT) TO ALL TYPES OF CARS


    AND FELT THE WALL OF REALITY THAT COMPANIES MANUFACTURING AUTO PARTS COULD NOT FOLLOW. IN ADDITION, THEY GREETED A NEW PARADIGM CALLED 


    ELECTRIC CARS AND STARTED TO LAUNCH COMPLETELY NEW CARS THAT THEY HAD PREPARED.


    WHEN THE NEW MODEL IN GERMANY IS MARKETED IN KOREA, IT TAKES ABOUT A YEAR TO A YEAR AND A HALF. SO EXCEPT FOR THE MINIMUM AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE 

    DEVELOPMENT OF SUPPLIES UNTIL THE FACE LIFT PERIOD, THERE IS A DIFFICULTY TO PRODUCE RESULTS FOR A PERIOD OF ABOUT SIX MONTHS TO A YEAR.









    이와 같은 현실은 소비자의 취향에도 변화를 가져오기 시작했다


    소비자는 차량을 구입하고 PARTS 장착하는데 투자하기 보다는 쏟아지는 신차들의 홍수 속에서 일정 기간이 지난 후에 새로운 차량으로 교체하는 선택을 하게 되었다


    결국 독일 자동차업체의 전략의 변화는 소비자의 취향을 변화시켰고, 이는 AFTER MARKET 업계에도 막대한 영향을 주었으며  역시 예외일  없었다.


    지금 와서 생각해보면 그가 적절한 시간에 좋은 투자자를 만나지 못한 부분도 있겠지만지금의 우리 정부의 튜닝산업에 대한 투자는 당시 중국 정부가 튜닝산업에 적극적으로 

    막대한 자금을 투자한 그것과 비교하여 현실인식이 부족한 너무나 뒤늦은 행정이라고 생각한다







    THIS REALITY HAS ALSO CHANGED THE TASTE OF CUNSUMERS. RATHER THAN INVESTING IN BUYING AND INSTALLING AUTO PARTS, CONSUMER CHOSE TO 


    REPLACE THEIR CAR WITH A NEW CARS. IN THE END, CHANGES IN GERMAN AUTOMAKER'S STRATEGIES CHANGED CONSUMER TASTES, WHICH ALSO 


    HAD A PROFOUND IMPACT ON THE AFTER MARKET INDUSTRY, AND THAT WAS NO EXCEPTION.


    IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT NOW, HE MAY NOT HAVE MET A GOOD INVESTOR AT THE RIGHT TIME, THE INVESTMENT OF OUR GOVERNMENT IN THE TUNING INDUSTRY NOW 


    THINKS THAT THE ADMINISTRATION IS TOO LATE TO UNDERSTAND THE REAL SITUATION COMPARED TO THE CHINESE GOVERNMENT THAT INVESTED ENORMOUSLY 


    IN THE TUNING INDUSTRY AT THAT TIME.

















     년의 시간 동안 열정을 가지고 모든 노력을 다해서 유지해 오던 회사의 명성에 금이 가는 소리가 그에게 들리기 시작했다


    적극적으로 진행하던 신제품의 출시는 요원해지고 소비자에게 전달된 제품에서  동안 없었던 불량의 문제가 발생하게  것이다


    그는 문제를 해결하기 위하여 모든 노력을 다했었지만 독일 자동차 업계의 변화그로 인한 소비자의 취향 변화그리고 전기자동차로 변화하는 미래에 대한 전망  


    현실은 너무나 어두워 보였다5년간 뒤돌아보지 않고 모든 것을 아낌없이 바쳐오던 그의 열정도 결국은 지치는 순간이 오게 되었으며어느 순간 그는 DEALER들에게 


    LAST ORDER라는 연락을 하게 되었다


    WOOKIEHONG 자신의 열정을 다해 만들어  회사의 명성이 조금씩 무너져가는 것을 스스로 지켜보고 싶지 않았고마치  스스로가 무너지고 있다는 것을 느꼈을 것이다

    육체와 정신 양면이 모두 너무나도 지쳤던 그는 결국 LAST ORDER 끝으로 회사의 문을 닫았다









    OVER THE YEARS HE BEGAN TO HEAR THE CRAKING OF THE COMPANY'S REPUTATION ALTHOUGH HE HAD BEEN PASSIONATE AND KEPT UP WITH ALL HIS EFFORTS.


    THE RELEASE OF NEW PRODUCTS THAT HAVE BEEN ACTIVELY PROMOTED HAS BECOME DELAYED AND THE PROBLEMS THAT HAVE NOT OCCURRED 


    IN THE PAST HAVE ARISEN IN PRODUCTS DELIVERED TO CONSUMERS. HE HAS MADE EVRY EFFORT TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM BUT THE CHANGES 


    IN THE GERMAN AUTOMOBILE INDUSTRY, THE CHANGES IN CONSUMER TASTES AND THE PROSPECTS FOR A FUTURE CHANGING INTO ELECTRIC CARS, 


    THE REALITY LOOKED SO DARK. HIS PASSION FOR NOT LOOKING BACK FOR FIVE YEARS AND DEVOTING EVERYTHING TO HIM EVENTUALLY LED TO 


    A TIRING MOMENT AND NOTICED TO ALL DEALERS ABOUT LAST ORDER.


    WOOKIEHONG DID NOT WANT TO SEE FOR ITSELF THAT THE REPUTATION OF THE COMPANY THAT MADE IT WITH ITS PASSION WAS GETTING SMALLER.

    PERHAPS HE HAD FEEL LIKE IT WAS COLLAPSING ITSELF. HE WAS SO TIRED OF BOTH HIS BODY AND MIND THAT HE EVENTUALLY ENDED THE LAST ORDER AND CLOSED COMPANY.








    TID STYLING WOOKIEHONG  누구보다 열정적이었던 5년간의 기록이며, 이것은 혹자들이 말하는 성공과 실패를 저울질   없는 스스로의 존재를 느끼고 입증하는 기간이었다


    디자인설계마케팅생산판매명성에 이르기까지  명의 개인이 경험할  없는 많은 전문적인 분야를 경험할 수 있었던 시간이었다이것들은 그의 철학과 삶을 대하는 태도에 


    분명 긍정적인 영향을 주었고 WOOKIEHONG 스스로를 DESIGN DEVELOPER 자부할 수 있는 함의를 담고있WOOKIEHONG DESIGN이라는 개념에 대한 DESIGNER로서의 관점과 


    CUSTOMER  NEED에서 발생하는 구조적인 차이점을 완벽하게 온몸으로 체득하고 있기 때문에, CONCEPT 자체만으로도 완벽할 수 있는 것이 DESIGN 이기도 하지만, 


    이와 같은 학자적인 관점은 COMPETITION 통해 스스로를 시험하는 것으로 만족하고자 한다. WOOKIEHONG CUSTOMER 위해서 제공할  있는 최상의 SERVICE 


    무형의 가치가 현실로 구현될  있도록 초기의 IDEA와 DESIGN을 모든 PROCESS의 흐름 속에서 지속적으로 유지하고 DEVELOPMENT 하는 것이다. 


    WOOKIEHONG은 이제 TID STYLING의 오너가 아닌 CUSTOMER에게 자신만의 SERVICE를 제공하는 DESIGN DEVELOPER로서 활동을 할 것이다.









    TID STYLING IS A RECORD OF WOOKIEHONG'S FIVE YEARS OF PASSION THAN ANYONE ELSE, AND IT WAS A PERIOD OF FEELING AND PROVIDING 


    THE EXISTENCE OF ONESELF WHO CAN NOT WEIGH THE SUCCESS AND FAILURE OF WHAT THEY SAY. 


    FROM DESIGN, MECHENICAL DESIGN, MARKETING, PRODUCTION, SALES, TO FAME, HE WAS ABLE TO EXPERIENCE MANY PROFESSIONAL AREAS THAT ONE PERSON COULD NOT EXPERIENCE.


    THESE HAVE CERTAINLY HAD A POSITIVE IMPACT ON HIS PHILOSOPHY AND STTITUDES TOWARD LIFE, AND THEY HAVE IMPLICATIONS FOR ONESELF AS A DESIGN DEVELOPER.


    HE IS FULLY ACQUAINTED WITH THE CONCEPT OF DESIGN FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF THE DESIGNER AS WELL AS THE STRUCTURAL DIFFERENCES THAT ARISE 


    FROM THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE CUSTOMER. IT IS DESIGN THAT THE CONCEPT ITSELF CAN BE PERFECT, BUT SUCH A SCHOLARLY POINT OF VIEW TRIES TO SATISFY ITSELF BY 


    TESTING ITSELF THROUGH COMPETITION. THE BEST SERVICE HE CAN PROVIDE FOR HIS CUSTOMERS IS TO MAINTAIN AND DEVELOP EARLY IDEAS AND DESIGNS THROUGHOUT 


    THE PROCESS SO THAT INTANGIBLE VALUES CAN BE REALIZED IN REALITY. WOOKIEHONG IS NOW WORKING AS A DESIGN DEVELOPER WHO PROVIDES 


    HIS SERVICES TO CUSTOMERS, NOT THE OWNER OF TID STYLING.
